Which Industry Qualifications Are Right For You?

The labour industry comprises such a broad range of sectors and specialisms that it can be difficult to know which type of role you are best suited to and the qualifications you’ll need to get the job. There are hundreds of training programmes, qualifications and certificates provided by different organisations with varying instructors, so it’s important to find the right one for you.

Australia is home to a large volume of manufacturing companies with thousands of workers that produce many of the goods we buy for use in every aspect of our lives. There are a multitude of jobs in assembly and fabrication, engineering, electrical technologies, warehouse stocking, quality control and management. While there is a lot to choose from, the tools and machinery used in these roles require training to operate – you may need a forklift licence, order picking or high reach licence or a logbook machine licence.

The trade industry is very broad but whether you are looking for excavation or construction work, you will need a QLD white card. To work safely at heights, you need to be qualified with an elevated work platform licence or high risk work licence for scaffolding and rigging. For jobs on building and development sites, it’s likely you’ll require training to conduct hydraulic, skid steer and grader loader operations.

With more and more employers looking for trade-certified staff over degree holders, the future of your career depends on choosing a course that’s right for you.
